40 YEARS OF MODERNITY COMBINED WITH TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP
Helga Grünwoldt-Okan, originally from Warburg in Westphalia, completed her apprenticeship as a tailor in Düsseldorf, Germany, at one of Germany's most prestigious ateliers. After passing her master craftsman's examination, the young designer worked in Berlin at a renowned couture house before presenting her first collection at Düsseldorf's Parkhotel in 1974.
For more than 40 years, the entrepreneur and designer has been synonymous with couture in Düsseldorf – under the brand name "PIO O'KAN" since 1993. Since 2016, a demi-couture collection has also appealed to new customer groups who don't want to spend time trying on clothes in a couture studio and are specifically seeking off-the-rack perfection – also to clearly differentiate themselves from well-known labels and the mass market.
THE COUTURE SALON
Located directly on the Kö-Graben on Königsallee, in the historic Girardet House, the elegant yet cozy Couture Salon is an oasis of peace and relaxation: muted colors, velvet armchairs, understated floral arrangements, and fine pastries invite you to linger and enjoy. The exclusive salon is characterized by its stylish Parisian flair, private spaces, and incomparable luxury. Here, beautiful and unique custom-made pieces are created in an exclusive and discreet atmosphere, complete with individual fittings.
THE DEMI-COUTURE STORE
The flagship store for the Demi-Couture collection is located in the immediate vicinity of the Couture Salon. PIO O'KAN's exclusive ready-to-wear line is presented in bright and welcoming spaces. The collection concept focuses on small batches, special details, and coordinated models.

THE STUDIO
The studio is located in close proximity to the Couture Salon and Demi-Couture Store in the Girardet House on the Kö. This allows for prompt fulfillment and implementation of customer requests during consultations and fittings.
In the bright and spacious studio, cutting directors, master craftsmen, journeymen, and apprentices work amidst rolls of fabric, design drawings, and colorful spools of thread to create the unique pieces designed in-house. Here, buttons are intricately embroidered with tiny pearls, small silk blossoms and lace details are applied, hems and edges are sewn by hand with the finest stitches, and matching shoes are designed to complement the outfits. Each piece is a masterpiece—modernity paired with traditional couture craftsmanship.
