A Heart for Children 2020 l Our Outfit for Nazan Eckes

The outfit

The idea

The outfit for this special day should be festive, modern and charming. A mixture of dress and dinner jacket. Playing with materials was also very important.

So we decided on a jumpsuit that does not restrict Ms Eckes' movement but gives her freedom. In this composition, the elements of the dinner jacket and the jumpsuit merge into one.

There is a lot of attention to detail in this ensemble. A material mix of crêpe and silk duchesse creates tension and makes the ensemble particularly elegant. The lapel collar, as well as the integrated corsage and belt made of duchesse, stand out particularly well against the deep black of the crêpe. The trouser legs that widen towards the bottom and the smoothly falling crêpe emphasise the feminine silhouette.

The asymmetric dinner jacket jumpsuit impresses with its straight shape and shoulder detailing. The half tuxedo jacket with narrow sleeve emphasises the shoulder, while the left shoulder is uncovered. Especially the handmade shoulder padding was adapted to this outfit to achieve a special shape.

The waist is accentuated with the help of the wide double-breasted belt, which has been fitted with hand-covered duchess buttons. We have also used materials on the inside of the corsage that provide support but are still very comfortable to wear. In this way we achieved a symbiosis of chic and comfortable.

The fittings

In the first fitting, the model developed piece by piece. In the first step, we put together different concepts and fabrics. From numerous drafts, we agreed on a mix of jumpsuit and dinner jacket. We also mixed different colours and textures, stopped the fabrics and, after the fitting, decided on black crepe and black silk duchesse.

For the second fitting, we prepared the model and decided on the details during the fitting. We also attached importance to the comfort of the outfit and so we added a stretch side panel in the corsage that did not restrict Ms Eckes in movement.

In the third fitting, the fine-tuning was decided. The length with the shoes, as well as deciding which jewellery could go with the model and the neckline shape, as well as the width of the belt.
